The purpose of this school revolves around increasing the quality of life. Within it exist spells designed for mending wounds, increasing the effectiveness of the living body, and resisting ailments. Life magic also delves into the destruction of beings that defy the natural state of the weave.
There is a common misconception that the school of life magic revolves around manipulating ‘life threads’. Life threads, in fact, are non-existent. The living body itself (disregarding the “soul” or “spirit”) does not contain any special threads. The living body consists of unique and complex patterns composed of the basic, known threads.
When a living being is wounded, the life mage will attempt to compile an emulation of the missing or damaged threads and apply it to that wound. Any complex combination of basic threads with a given purpose is commonly referred to as a ‘magic thread’. Magic threads differ in structure and purpose from school to school. The weave resists manipulations performed by magi but is more acceptant of those that emulate its natural state. Thus, the threads surrounding the wounded area begin to accept that pattern, allowing for healing to take place.
The majority of life magic spells utilize water threads. Water threads are commonly associated with healing properties and also serve as a superb medium in which to transfer positive energy.
When magi manipulate the weave, they are required to channel energy in order to successfully do so. Such manipulations either require the usage of positive energy or negative energy. The spells within the life school commonly utilize positive energy which promotes growth and bonding of threads.
Tier 1 spells within this school provide foundations for unrivaled healing techniques and more.
This spell will heal the living target for a small amount. The caster applies a generic, living thread pattern (magic thread) while utilizing water threads and positive energy in order to seal a small wound.
Utilizing earth threads as a structural support to ease movement and water threads to deliver needed positive energy, the caster can increase the target’s ability to recover stamina.
Transmuted fire threads are applied to the caster’s eyes in conjunction with the usage of nearby air threads. The senses are heightened, allowing for greater detection of inconsistencies and quicker reaction time. All detection skills are given a bonus, as well as a small bonus being given to defense.
Water threads pulled from an earth thread lattice, charged with positive energy, are used to create a persistent layer that allows the target’s wounds to heal more quickly.
Positively charged water threads pulled from an earth thread lattice can be applied to the target’s bloodstream and respiratory system in order to reduce the chance of sustaining an ailment or being poisoned for a time, as well as weakening any ailments and poisons that have already been acquired.
“With this technique, the burden of persistently chaotic beings will be removed from Terra. Balance will be achieved as we return the weave to its natural state.” - Magus Aryx Liie, age 16
This spell functions similarly to the basic healing technique, but expends on the concept in all directions. The living thread pattern that is utilized for this particular spell is not generic. Instead, the caster attempts to emulate the exact pattern of the target. This allows for more effective healing when the pattern is applied to the target and accepted by its body. Positive water threads are not only applied in order to increase the level of bonding, but also to refresh the target. Air threads are intentionally used as a medium here to maintain a stronger connection to the target while the spell is applied.
Life aura takes the principle of healing techniques but allows projection from the caster’s body, healing all of those within range and making them healthier. The emulated living thread pattern is generic but tailored in a more complex and effective fashion by the caster. The surrounding air threads are tapped as a medium to transfer this pattern, along with positive water threads, in all directions.

The soul is a complex combination of threads common to sentient beings. The body’s weave is bound to it. The soul, in essence, serves as a storage place and conduit for energy. Those who are witch blooded are able to channel this energy and also restore what is lost through the process of meditation. Most forms of sentient beings contain or achieve a balance of positive and negative energy, which is necessary for the body to maintain its bond with the soul. Should the being require too large a quantity or distribution of negative energy, the body’s weave will loosen its bond to the soul. Death in a sentient being occurs when the soul is finally relinquished. The remaining body becomes entirely negative, causing the thread structure to alter. This entirely negative state is known as ‘death’. This natural state occurs where any living body (soul or no) becomes entirely negative. Inherently negative combinations of threads altered by death are commonly referred to as ‘grey threads’.
“Knowledge of the soul is absolutely integral to the understanding of effective casting. It is a pity that many choose to ignore the soul, allowing it to remain a largely unexplored concept.” - Magus Aryx Liie, Age 15
It is fairly well known that life magi are incapable of bringing life to something that is dead. This concept does not only refer to dead bodies, but also to portions of bodies that are no longer considered living, such as those with scar tissue. Seeing that school of life magic generally involves the usage of living threads patterns, water threads, and positive energy; it is understandable that they cannot benefit the dead. Life magic techniques are only capable of damaging what is already dead.
