Before you install any files, make sure your UO client is patched beyond 2.0.0.0. Dont patch beyond 4.0.0.0 as complications may arise. Use the program uopatch.exe to connect and begin updating, close it after it reaches beyond 2.0.0.0.

For later versions of Ultima Online, such as LBR or Third Dawn it is likely that your client is already patched to the necessary point. If you have questions, feel free to ask in IRC.

1. Save all the files on the Downloads page to your UO directory.
2. Install WinRAR (download here) if you don’t have it already.
3. Open the .zip & .rar files in WinRAR and extract their contents to your UO directory.
   1. (Windows XP users: To avoid installation problems, be sure to use the “Extract” option in your zip program. Do NOT simply drag the files from the WinRAR window to your UO directory. In addition, delete the general UO files that are to be replaced by DA2 files before extracting to your UO directory. Do not simply overwrite the files.)
4. Run the graphics .exe file and extract its files to the UO directory as well.

If you are asked to overwrite old files, say OK.

If you are a Windows XP user and have any problems running UO after installing the DA2 files:

1. Defragment your hard drive
2. Uninstall UO
3. Reinstall to a new directory
4. Follow the steps above, paying close attention to the note under Step 3

For Windows XP users:

1. Start → Run → “cmd” (Without the " “)
2. Type: cacls “UOPATH\hues.mul” /g windowsusername:f
3. Eg: cacls “C:\Program Files\Ultima Online 2D\hues.mul /g John:f
4. Edit the above line to reflect you UO installation path and username for winsows.
