This system is based on one craftable (Carpentry→Fixtures): the Resource Board. This item can be placed by any town citizen.
What this item does is provide a center of commerce. The board co-owners are able to define Categories for resources, and then place advertisements for resources. We’ll call these advertisements “Posts”. A post is defined under one category. And, for each post, the owner defines a few things:
For example, Joe the Co-Owner can put up a post for Demon Hides. He’ll pick the category Hides (1) after that category has been defined by himself or another co-owner. Then, he’ll target the only Demon Hide he has (2), to define that this is what he wants to buy more of. He will then define that he wants to buy 5 stacks (3), each consisting of 10 units (4). He’ll be willing to pay 5gp for each stack (5). What this means is that he’ll pay an average of 0.5gp for each unit, but will only buy them in stacks of 10, up to a maximum of 5 stacks.
When someone else walks up to the board and selects this Post, they’ll be prompted to sell their demon hides, for gold. Joe’s board will need to have gold in it, enough to pay for the stacks he’s wanting to buy. In this case, he’d be fine with 25 gold (5 stacks max at 5 gold each). All he needs to do is use the gump option to deposit gold in the resource board.
However, at the end of every town cycle, it’s time for the tax collectors to come around. And they’ll want to collect the trade taxes for the things Joe’s board sold. The tax will be applied over the amount of gold spent by Joe’s board in acquiring resources over the last cycle (2 RL days, I think), and the rate is the same as regular vendors’. If Joe’s board doesn’t have enough gold in it to pay the taxes, it will be disabled until Joe deposits enough gold to pay these taxes.
GM-set Posts do not require gold to be deposited, nor do they pay taxes.
