The Saints of Fealty

The Saints of Fealty are those mortals, like Valar, who devoted their lives to the Path of Fealty. In doing so, they brought their lives closer to the concept of brotherhood that brings salvation and paradise. Through purification of their own souls they have ascended into the realm of Yashain where they continue to help those of Terra to adhere to the principles of fealty that may one day return paradise to Yashain, Terra, and all of the universe.

Nora (Healers)

She of Gentle Touch,
The Apothecary’s Balm,
Patron of Healers.

Nora is the patron of Healers, often depicted as an older woman with graying hair, her pale form garbed in plain white robes. Her hands are wrapped with bloody bandages, a symbol of her loyalty to the sick and ailed. Nora is prayed to in both good times and bad – at birth that a child may be healthy, and at death that the dying may pass peacefully into the hands of Valar and the pleasures of Yashain.

Chronicles (15:10)

Nora was born to a poor family of meager status in the war-torn lands of Zeal before the Empire had unified. During the early years of her life, her parents and siblings were butchered by marauders and brigands leaving her stranded to fate. Yet, blessings upon her, she was taken in by a monastery dedicated to Valar. It was there she devoted her life to helping others. With the countryside plagued with war, she gave her aid of healing to all wounded, regardless of their affiliation.

Later in her years, she came upon a band of marauders that were wounded and near death. The voice of Valar appeared to her, revealing these were the the men that had murdered her family. She did not flinch. Instead, she stated she had only compassion for the men; she knew the hardship they must have faced, but also that through them she found the gifts of Valar and the purity of brotherhood. It is her unyielding compassion that earned Nora a place in the realm of Yashain in the great company of Valar. It is there she looks over mankind with watchful and motherly eyes, doing her best to answer the beck and call of those that would pray her aid.

Malthon (Free-Knights)

Sword of Retribution,
The Vengeful Eye,
Master of Free-Knights.

Malthon is the patron Saint of Free-Knights of whose realm is vengeance and law. He is often depicted as a rough looking man in templar garb and worn steel platemail who carries a golden sword rumored to have been granted by Valar himself. He is prayed to when justice has been overlooked and retribution is at hand. Malthon upholds the concept of eye-for-an-eye, dispensing justice of equal weight. His retribution is swift and deadly.

Retributio (1:9)

Malthon was a knight of great fame, renowned for his loyalty and military prowess who carried out his service to a humble Lord well into the days of his life. In entering his later years of age, he was released from service and granted a plot of land for his dutiful service. Yet, dismay overtook him when word reached his ear that his old Lord, without heir, had been murdered and his crown taken by another man. Enraged by the act of villainy, Malthon returned to seek vengeance upon his old Lord’s murderer. With all judges in the region under thumb of the new Lord and no man to whisper ill the barbaric murder, Malthon took up his sword and slew the Lord while sitting atop his unearned throne. The act cost Malthon his life, yet his blade saw justice served when no other would stand for Valar.

For his loyalty to his old Lord, even beyond his bounds of fealty, Malthon found himself in the realm of Yashain in the mighty company of Valar. It is there he keeps watchful eye over the world of men, coming to the aid of those who have slipped through the hands of justice and Valar, ready to serve swift vengeance upon those deserving of his blade.

Nasith (Magistrates)

Hand of Justice,
The Voice of Compassion,
Lord of Magistrates.

Nasith is the Lord of Magistrates of whose realm lies compassion and law. He is often depicted as a a young blind man with blond hair, his eyes wrapped in bandages while his body is draped in red robes. He is prayed to most often by judges and magistrates who make decisions dealing with the lives of other men. Where Malthon upholds the concept of eye-for-an-eye, Nasith stresses the belief of compassionate law. Nasian lawmakers commonly hold that an eye-for-an-eye would make the whole world blind, but Malthonic knights would state not all men deserve compassion.

Compassio (12:12)

A blind child born into nobility of the Zealan Empire, Nasith was abandoned by his family to the local Church of Valar for his inability to achieve any form of namely glory. A burden to his family and all others, it was the kindness of Brotherhood that took Nasith in. In the confines of the Church, a young woman wed to a powerful politician saw to Nasith’s upbringing. From an early age, Nasith’s life centered around this maiden’s words who taught him of law and the greatness of Valar. Transfixed, it is said Nasith became obsessed with the Facets of Fealty. The laws of Valar became his eyes, seeing the truth and justice in all men, compassion always guiding his judgement for the kindness that had been bestowed upon him from birth.

It was in the depths of the Age of Terror, before the rise of the Republica, that Nasith steered the Church of Valar away from destruction. With war threatening to swallow the Empire of Zeal, he stood against the malignant voices that bellowed above the voice of compassion. The blade had become ‘law’; ‘law’ was lawless. It was his voice that pulled the Church of Valar out of the grips of destruction, and while the Emperor fell to the Republica, the survival of the Path of Valar during the Age of Terror is widely attributed to Nasith. It is for his great voice that spoke of compassionate law rather than butchery and equal justice that Nasith ascended into the realm of Yashain in the mighty company of Valar. It is from Yashain he now watches over mankind, whispering into the ears of magistrates the need to be just, but also wise.

Oreon (Sailors)

Wind of the Seas,
Lawful of the Oceans,
Master of Sailors.

Oreon is the patron Saint of Sailors often depicted as a gruff and aged man with gray hair but a heavy build. Where the sea is plagued with challenges and piracy, Oreon looks over those Sailors loyal to the aspects of brotherhood. Oreon is prayed to by sailors and shippers for safe passage and good bounty.

Avery (4:3)

Oreon was once a renowned pirate and devote of the Path of Strength. His faith and luck changed quickly when he was overthrown by his crew and left for dead. As the grace of Valar would have it, a local fisherman of little name rescued Oreon. Seeing himself in grave debt to the fishmerman, but also to Valar for his past misdeeds, Oreon set sail over the oceans to challenge piracy that had gripped the oceans and brought trade to a crippling halt. Emboldened by his near-death experience, Oreon struck out and created law in the ocean where once there was none. Battle after Battle with sunken ship and broken haul, Oreon’s name became synonymous with the Ocean’s Law. Though Oreon’s life was claimed during his quest of vengeance, his efforts broke the strangle hold on trade and saw the Empire pull out of stagnation.

For his efforts, conversion, and dedication to the Facets of Brotherhood it is now held that Oreon rests in the realm of Yashain in the mighty host of Valar. It is there he keeps watchful eyes over the seas, granting fair winds to traders and sailors while asking Valar bring swift storms upon pirates and black traders.

Josephine (Generals)

Tactician of Justice,
The Warriors Guide,
Lady of Generals.

Josephine is the patron Saint of Generals often depicted as an armor-clad woman atop a horse wielding a scepter used to direct combat. Josephine is prayed to in times of war when generals and knights of Valar seek insight into overcoming a challenge.

Justitia (11:19)

Born a farmer to a family of little renown, Josephine rose to fame in a matter of months during the Hunger’s War. In a time when hunger and plague gripped the land (before the formation of the Zealan Empire), tyrants turned to plundering the city of Ophraon for the bounty it held, leaving the city in ruin while war threatened to swallow the other cities of the continent. No training with a blade and no knowledge of war, Josephine took up Valar’s sword and voice when no others would stand for her village. In what is commonly regarded as miracle, Josephine lead what few brigands remained of her village to save her people from a waylaying army. Legend mixed with myth and grander, it is said Josephine raised the banner of her people and purged the lands of Opharon of invaders, at last storming the capital’s gates. Though she died in the course of battle, it was her tacit mind that won the battle for the forces of Valar.

For her great duty to her people and the Facets of Fealty, Josephine ascended into the realm of Yashain in the mighty company of Valar. Her success in battle is said to have been born from her deep faith in Valar as she wielded her faith as a sword sharper than any weapon a blacksmith could contrive. It is from Yashain she looks over mankind and hears the calls of generals and leaders who look for her heavenly wisdom in combat.
