Balaur, the Powerful

The Sword of Might,
The Self-Indulgent,
Lord of Ambition,
The Uncrowned King.

Balaur is Lord of the Path of Power, the truly divine of the three brothers who resides in Yashain above all Saints and Guardians. It was he that heard the true path from his Father, he that knows the route to salvation, and he that will bring paradise to the universe once more.

Balaur is depicted as a perfectly muscular man (twin brother to Valar) armored in black platemail, his shoulders draped with a long flowing velvet cloak of red. In both hands is his great sword Vedual, raised towards the heavens. Two bull horns adorn his plate helm symbolizing the inner strength and power stressed throughout the Path of Power.

Balaur is seen as the pinnacle of strength. The greatest of warriors, he dedicated his life towards self perfection as a route of salvation. By removing all weakness from his body and mind, Balaur ascended into the domain of Yashain where he rules with the Saints of Power. Balaur is seen as the hand of Divine Strength helping to guide men to salvation and return paradise to Terra.

Theological Mission

Followers of the Path of Power view self-perfection and strength as the roots of salvation. Through purifying ones own body and mind in an effort to become the pinnacle of perfection, followers are said to be transformed as Balaur was into the divine. Knights and priests in particular are held to high standards of perfection that boarder on egoistic and boastful. Adherents of the Path of Power see their Path as the True Path where as the paths of Fealty and Wisdom lead to damnation. It is the goal of all followers of Balaur to seek salvation and paradise returned to Terra by unlocking the talent and abilities of all men, working towards self-perfection.

Social Mission

The church of Balaur offers a source of power, strength, and salvation to those whose lives are filled with the quest for perfection and adventure. Balites have traditionally come from the ranks of rogue-knights and mercenaries, though it is not limited to just those seeking power and fame. Merchants, entertainers, and craftsmen are also often members of the Path of Strength.

The priesthood and knightly orders of Balaur stand as separate entities. The priesthood acts as the source of Balaur’s voice on Terra while knights act as defenders of the priesthood and champions of the cause of Balaur. Both orders partake in the adventures and competitions often put forward by the Path of Power. The vast majority of adventurers, mercenaries, and free-knight come from the ranks of Balaur’s order. Followers of Balaur act to push the world forward by seeking self-perfection and imposing their own vision of greatness upon the world. It is through the perfection of everyone that paradise and salvation will again return to Terra.
