I'm going to detail a system in Darkages that we've had for quite awhile, but is still one of the lesser known, and lesser used ones, but has great potential for players.

Ingame Mail

Darkage has a fully-featured 'email' system available to all characters which allows you to send messages, even when the recipient is offline, that they will be able to read when they get on. While, it goes without saying that this should be primarily used for in-game communication and keep inline with rules of the shard.

This system is accessed with .email, and has a accompanying message when your log into a character that states if you have any new messages (or if you have no new messages)

Inbox

The Inbox stores all your current, non-deleted messages, it also directs you through the system and shows you the box number assigned to you that can be given out for other players to contact you.

Box Number - This box in the top right corner of the system details your personal (and character bound) box number, that number is required if you wish anyone to message you.

Update Inbox - This forces a update in the situation where a message arrives when your within the display.

New Email - This is where you compose your message to people who you have a box number for.

Delete All - Clears your entire inbox of any existing email.
Address Book - A page to store contact information of friends, and their box numbers.

Block List- A page to block the Box Numbers of someone you do not wish to be contacted by through this system

New Email/Message
This section is self explanatory, allowing you to message multiple characters by separating their box numbers with a space, detail a subject, and the message.

Addresses - Links to the Address Tab and allows you to use it's function to retrieve box numbers of those you wish to message.

Send - Send's your message, the following screen after will detail the box numbers of the people you sent it to.

Cancel - Cancels your current message, does not save any data you were writing.

Word Wrap - Allows your text to wrap, instead of going of screen or requiring you to re-select the gump, this will allow the text to move to the next line down during the writing of the message.

Address Book

This section is fairly simple and straight forward, and allows you to store a great deal of names and box numbers. Each entry is section between the 'Name' (which is enter-able, and doesn't require it to be exact) and their box number. The moving parchment image next to each entry is a hotkey to enter that person's box number into a new message.

Update List - Forces a update to your list, to ensure that everything is entered and wont be lost on closing the screen.

Erase All - A simple, erase everything command, self explanatory.

Down Arrow Icon - Expands the page, allowing more than one page of contacts and box numbers to be stored.

This section is fairly simple and straight forward, and allows you to store a list of box numbers and the names accompanied with them. Each entry is section between the 'Name' (which is enter-able, and doesn't require it to be exact) and their box number. It is much like the address list, but for those people you'd rather not have message you any longer.

Update List - Forces a update to your list, to ensure that everything is entered and wont be lost on closing the screen.

Erase All - A simple, erase everything command, self explanatory.

Down Arrow Icon - Expands the page, allowing more than one page of contacts and box numbers to be stored.

I hope this system is of some interest to the playerbase, especially as we continue to branch out with new characters and our recent addition of second character slots.

Hey. Quick question about this. When reading mail, there is a radio button to "Add to Addresses" but when I click it, I'm just brought back to my inbox. Is this not implemented yet or am I doing something wrong?
